insightful drama. Mental airs in February 2008 on Arts Central.
Alaric Visits High Class Prostitute In New Movie.
Alaric is not complaining, especially since the prostitute is played by former Deal Or No Deal babe, Andrea Fonseka. At a press conference held yesterday, Alaric spoke candidly about his role in Director Michael Wang’s debut feature film, The Carrot Cake Conversations. “Daniel is a cynical Singaporean jaded by life after being in two failed marriages. When you first meet him in the movie, he is in bed with Ruth – played by Andrea. What a way to make an introduction!”
The story revolves around four central characters. A Trader (Alaric), a Prostitute (Andrea), a Hotelier (Adrian Pang) and a failed Hollywood Actress (played by Australian, Danielle O’Malley). In one night, they cross paths, share their hopes, dreams, fears, regrets, and a plate of carrot cake. And maybe at the end of it all, learn a lesson or two about life.
This is the second time Alaric is teaming up with Adrian Pang on a movie. The first time was 10 years ago on the set of Forever Fever.
The Carrot Cake Conversations begins principal photography in January 2008.

"S'il Vous Plait, Vote Pour Moi!"
In other words, "Please, vote for me!". Those were the words uttered by Alaric last Friday night at the end of a Q&A session held at the Lyon Asian Film Festival. He had earlier introduced himself, and mentioned that he was in France to spread some Love from Singapore... all in French. To which, the French audience gave him a rousing applause filled with cheers and whistles. Alaric was in Lyon, France to represent 18 Grams of Love in the festival's feature film competition.
18 Grams of Love is a Media Development Authority (MDA) funded project, directed by award-winning comedy director Han Yew Kwang. It stars Alaric and Adam Chen as best friends who suspect their wives are having affairs. And so they embark on a love-letter writing spree to test each other's wives. Playing the victimised wives are fellow Fly Entertainment Artistes Yeo Yann Yann and Magdelene See. "The response at the festival was truly positive," says Alaric. "Someone even came up to me and thanked me for my work! She said the film put a smile on her face."
The film picked up 2 prizes at the festival - A Bronze Audience Choice award, and a Silver Young Jury Award. Now, even the filmmakers are smiling too!
