A Million Treasures!

Alaric makes his Channel 8 resurrection tomorrow night in A Million Treasures (Bai Wan Bao). Playing a Hongkong movie star who patrons Ma Da (Li Nanxing) and Xing Xing's (Zoe Tay) mobile food van, this will be Alaric's first appearance in a Channel 8 program since 1996. Alaric appears in 3 episodes from Wednesday (27th) till Friday (29th). A Million Treasures airs at 9pm on Channel 8. Look out for the great Hongkong accent!

All-Star line up for the Silver Wonders Christmas Charity Concert!

Come December 8, Singapore Idols Sylvester Sim, Daphne Khoo, Norman Then and Paul Twohill will be performing alongside local powerhouse bands like Ronin, Saw Loser, Firebrands and HEXA. The Silver Wonders Christmas Charity Concert was organised by Ngee Ann Polytechnic students to raise funds for their school's Student Aid Fund, which aims to assist it's financially needy students. Hosting the event will be, celebrities Alaric Tay and Mark Zee, who are NP FSV alumni and former BA international fellow, respectively.

When We Were Bengs premieres at the Canon DV Fest!

Alaric Tay's 12-minute short film, When We Were Bengs, premiered last night at the 2006 Canon Digital Video Festival's awards ceremony, held at DXO Club at the Esplanade. Filmmakers, celebrities, media industry players and executives made up the 500 strong crowd at the event. When We Were Bengs is part of an initiative, called Front2back, that invites celebrities to go behind the camera and take on the challenge of making a movie. The film was produced, written and directed by Alaric Tay. As though that were not enough to keep him busy, the funny man stars in it too!

YANG & TENACIOUS – The Yang Sisters premieres!

Its the Golden Girls, with a touch of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon! Veteran Hong Kong actress Cheng Pei Pei stars in The Yang Sisters - An all new prime time comedy about the amusing lives of 3 endearing sisters, and their families. The stellar cast includes Kym Ng, Liu Shi Xuan, Alaric Tay, Mark Zee and Tracy Tan. The Yang Sisters airs every Thursday at 8.30pm on Channel 5.

The Adventures of Holden Heng

VHQ productions has begun filming for a new High Definition telemovie starring the amiable Alaric Tay, as Holden Heng, and Medoly Chen as his sophisticated girlfriend. Based on a novel by Robert Yeo, it is one of 19 Media Developmet Authority (MDA) funded projects for its new High Definition channel. This is Alaric’s forth telemovie project, following Coffee On Cream, Chase, and Ang Tau Mui.

Untitled TV Series In Full Swing

Alaric was offered a major supporting role in a new channel 5 drama called, Untitled. The power cast includes Lim Kay Tong, Gerald Chew, Amy Cheng, and newcomers Rebecca Lim and Nathaniel Ho. Principal Photography began on July 31.

Stars Raise funds for Earthquake Victims

Starbucks at the Wisma Atria shopping centre was filled with stars today. The popular coffee chain collaborated with Artistes from Fly Entertainment in a charity event to raise funds for the victims of the central java earthquake. Celebrities Alaric Tay, Amy Cheng, Cynthia Koh, Jimmy T, Magdalene See, Steph Song, and popular comedienne Irene Ang were seen serving customers from behind the counter, and collecting donations. Channel 8 Compere, Kym Ng, who was also in the area shooting another program, chipped in and made a donation. Until the end of this month, all proceeds from the sale of the new Java Chip Frappacino at all Starbucks outlets throughout the island, will go to the Red Cross’ Indonesia Disaster Relief Fund.

Canon Digital Video Festival 2006

In a press conference held at the esplanade library yesterday, Alaric Tay and Angela May were announced as this year’s celebrity directors for the Canon Digital Video Festival. Last year saw Beatrice Chia and Melody Chen taking on the movie director’s chair to produce a short film, each. This year, Alaric and Angela will have the challenge of doing the same. The festival is an annual event which aims to promote creativity amongst the masses using the digital video platform and provide equal opportunities for everyone interested in filmmaking. Alaric and Angela will be shooting their films on the new Canon HDV cameras.

Alaric in a Brand New Comedy - After an absence of two years from the Singapore TV scene, Alaric Tay was offered a role in Dream Forest Productions’ latest project, The Yang Sisters. This new comedy will be aired on Mediacorp Channel 5, in September 2006. Alaric stars alongside veteran HongKong actress, Cheng Pei Pei, and popular Mandarin Compere, Kym Ng. This is Alaric’s second major role in a channel 5 TV series since Money was on the air in 2000. Principal photography begins in January 2006.

Breaking Into Hollywood! - Singapore actor, Alaric Tay was appointed onto the board of directors of Breaking Into Hollywood®. It is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles that aims to assist aspiring entertainment professionals to pursue their career goals with passion, creativity and integrity, through the process of creative networking. The board consists of multi-national individuals working in the various areas of entertainment, ranging from cinema to television to music, and even fashion. Mr Tay is the first Singaporean appointed to be on the board.
